A method for managing power of an image apparatus and an image apparatus thereof are provided to cut off power applied to a LED display which displays a standby mode state if a power ON signal is not input to the image apparatus for a long time in the standby mode state, thereby preventing unnecessary power consumption. When a current mode of an image apparatus is a standby mode(S110), power is supplied to a power supply unit of a micom and an LED display unit displaying a standby mode(S120). Time information is detected to control power supplied to the LED display unit. It is frequently checked whether a power ON signal is input before the set time(S140). And if the set time passes, the LED display unit is switched OFF(S170).
