An image display apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to display broadcast schedule information including information about whether records related to a program in broadcast schedule information exist. A storage unit stores broadcast schedule information and a broadcast program. A user interface receives a request command from a user(S201). When a broadcast schedule information display command is inputted from a user interface, a control unit outputs a control signal according to whether records related to a program in broadcast schedule information exist(S205). When the information about whether records exist is received from the control unit, a broadcast schedule information generating unit generates broadcast schedule information including the information whether records related to at least one program in the broadcast schedule information exist(S215).
