A game apparatus 10 accepts an operation input provided to the controller 20 and reflects the operation input in the processing of a game application, acquires a captured image from the image pickup apparatus 2, acquires the position of the controller 20 in the captured image based on the position of the LED in the captured image and reflects the acquired position information in the processing of the game application, and generates an image signal showing the result of application processing performed based on the operation input and acquired position information.
