A wireless gate control system in which a command is transmitted to a gate. The system may include a base unit (16) located within a premises (10), a gate receiver unit (18) positioned next to a remotely located gate (14), and a gate control unit (20) located next to the gate (14). The base unit (16) may provide for voice communications with an individual at the gate and for issuing of commands to control the gate (14). The gate receiver unit (18) includes a switching device which, in response to commands directs the opening and closing of the gate (14). The gate control unit (20) includes a call button for initiating voice communication with the base unit and a keypad for entering an identification code or password. The gate control unit may also control the gate. The receiver of the gate at receiver unit may be intermittently turned off so as to save power. The units may include low power microprocessors. The gate may transmit an acknowledgement of receipt of such signals. |
