A toaster comprising at least one toasting chamber and one or a plurality of heating elements for heating said at least one toasting chamber. A timer device is operable to time a toasting period at the start of a toasting cycle, and upon interrupt of said toasting cycle by a user activating a cancel or interrupt button, said timer device interrupts said timed toasting period and commences a second preset timed period T2. If toasting is recommenced within period T2, said timer device reactivates said heating elements for a remainder of said toasting period, if not, a new full length timing period will start. The toaster may comprise an electrically operated carriage mechanism which is driven up and down by an electric motor and a worm gear. |
