The present invention relates to a dispensing device for dispensing a liquid product from a container containing said product, the dispensing device (1) comprising an inlet passage (4) for fluid communication from a container to a first chamber (5), which first chamber (5) is in fluid communication through an intermediate passage (6) of a given longitudinal extension (I) with a second chamber (7), which second chamber (7) is in fluid communication through an outlet passage (8) with an outlet (9) of the dispensing device. Preferably the intermediate passage has a length in the range 1.5 to 2.0 cm. The invention furthermore relates to a container, such as a bottle provided with the dispensing device in the outlet portion of the container. Using the dispensing device according to the invention a very accurate and reproducible amount of a liquid product, such as cleaning materials, detergents, softeners, liquid toilet soap, shampoo and medicine, can be delivered from the dispensing device without activating movable parts but merely by applying a sequence of tilting movements of the container in a manner that is easy and intuitively correct for a user.
