<p>Cupola furnace for cast iron prodn. has two concentric windboxes, the inner of which is let into the refractory furnace wall and is used for preheating the air for the tuyeres. Both windboxes extend into the area of the furnace between the tuyeres and the melting zones in the furnace. The main outer windbox consists of a lower large section and upper short sections one above the other, feeding auxiliary tuyeres. More air is blown in near the top of the furnace to convert CO to CO2. All this increases the overall efficiency of the furnace both from a fuel and a production point of view.</p> |
