An image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to prevent overload due to the successive operation of the motor and the control characteristics degradation caused by the rising of the temperature resistance. An image forming apparatus comprises an image forming part(100), a driving part(200) including a driving unit as driving source of the image forming part, a sensor(300) sensing the drive information of the driving unit, and a controller(400) controlling the driving part to delay the operation by the delay time corresponding to the deviation of the sensed drive information from the pre-stored standard value. A control method of the image forming apparatus comprises a step for sensing the drive information of the driving unit of the driving part, a step for calculating the deviation of the sensed drive information from the pre-stored standard value, and a step for driving the driving part with the delay time corresponding to the calculated deviation.
