Telecommunication and network applications rely on ever-increasing diverse and complex transport service mechanisms. A transport service between points in a network often traverses multiple technologies involving numerous containment s and adaptions. Common display techniques summarize a network, typically as netwo rk elements. In contrast, a provided technique simultaneously displays transpor t service representations displaying network elements and connections between network entities to form graphical representations showing intra-element and inter-element connections, and relationships between network entities, there by enabling a user to visualize a transport service efficiently. A network event affecting the transport service may occur in any number of elements supporting the transpo rt service, resulting in a myriad of alarms. An example embodiment presents a highly structured and comprehensive visual presentation. Aided by the presentation a viewer can correlate a network event affecting a transport service with the transport service affected by the network event visually.
