An image sensor, an electronic apparatus and a method for driving the electronic apparatus are provided to reduce a scale of a gate and chip size. An image sensor(1) comprises a pixel array unit(11) and a controller. Pixels are arranged in the pixel array unit in two dimension of horizontal direction and vertical direction. Exposure time of each pixel is controlled by a rolling shutter mode. When a movement amount of an address of a vertical direction of the pixel array unit is described by repetition of an addition amount(P1,P2,P3~PN) every horizontal scanning period of an electronic shutter controlling the exposure and performed correspondingly to charge read in each pixel, an electronic shutter generating number of 1 horizontal scanning period which is a number of rows that the electronic shutter performs at the same time during the 1 horizontal scanning period is determined.
