An auto refresh method for refreshing the bank which is not activated to successively by using the bank counter is provided to heighten the reliability of device and refresh successively the bank which is not activated in the active state without the pre-charge. An auto refresh method includes the steps of: confirming whether chip is the idle state or not(B2) after the auto refresh command is inputted(B1); progressing the refresh about the bank which is not activated in case a part bank of within chip is the active state(B3); progressing the refresh about the bank of the active state(B7).
