A method and a printing system for printing color image data by using a color image forming apparatus are provided to reduce a time for transmitting or processing print data and replace a current job to a black printing job in case that color printing is not normally performed but black printing is normally performed. It determines whether the color image shape device normally can perform color printing according to the status information of the color image forming apparatus(220). If the color printing cannot be performed, color image data is converted as black and white image data so that color image data be printed as black and white image(225). A black and white printing is performed by using the produced black and white image data(260).
