A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving pilot signal in a wireless communication system are provided to obtain more freedom degrees for the cell detection of the base station by introducing an additional scrambling code and maintaining a scrambling code basically adapted to all cells within a system. One cell scrambling code is set up as a reference cell scrambling code(SSC) among cell scrambling codes of N is set up about each combinations of a plurality of scrambling codes. By utilizing the addition cell scrambling code except the reference cell scrambling code, it determines whether to transmit cell scrambling codes of N. The reference cell scrambling code or the addition cell scrambling code is produced.
