INTELLIGENT FAILOVER IN A LOAD-BALANCED NETWORKING ENVIRONMENT

An intelligent failover at a load-balanced networking environment prevents the network interface overload and the degradation of the computing device performance in the failover of the network connection. Packets received by a plurality of functional NICs are monitored(402). The reception of the packet related to the network connection by the plurality of functional NICs or the second NIC is detected and the second NIC is identified as the failover NIC(Network Interface Card)(406). The identity of the failover NIC is transmitted to a hash engine executing the hash algorithm for determining the identity of the failover NICs(408). The entry inside a first delegated connection table included in a first hardware off load engine is set up(410). The hardware identifier inside the connection table included in a host software module corresponding to the network connection is set up(412).
