A connector for a card is provided to remove cases that a card detecting switch detects a mis-inserted card. A cover(40) is shaft-supported to rotate at one end of a base(10). The cover includes a card container(42) to/from which a card is inserted/removed. And the cover with the card contained in the card container is horizontally slid along with the base. When the cover is horizontally slid into one end along with the base, a detecting switch detects a mount state with regard to the cover of the card by contacting the detecting switch(70) with the card horizontally slid with the cover.
