PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freezing point depressant lowering the freezing point of a natural alcohol which is an alcohol composition comprising a linear alcohol as a main component. SOLUTION: This freezing point depressant for a linear alcohol uses a compound represented by general formula (1): R<SP>1</SP>-O-(PO)<SB>n</SB>-H, wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a 6-22C linear alkyl group, PO represents propylene-oxy group, and n is an integer of 1-10.
