PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent and a method for preventing the caking of granulated blast furnace slag which can be used for preventing the caking for a longer time than that in a conventional method and excellent in cost performance. SOLUTION: The method for preventing the caking of granulated blast furnace slag is characterized by adding both sorbitol and gluconic acid as an aqueous solution to granulated blast furnace slag wherein the addition amount of sorbitol is 50-95 mass% of the total addition amount of sorbitol and gluconic acid. The agent for preventing the caking of granulated blast furnace slag is an aqueous solution of sorbitol and gluconic acid in which the amount of sorbitol is 50-95 mass% of the total amount of sorbitol and gluconic acid.
