<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily and accurately connect external equipment by USB. <P>SOLUTION: When it is determined that external equipment is connected in step ST1, a method for displaying an image reads device information from the equipment in step ST4 and confirms a class in step ST5. If an image class is confirmed and it is the same as a preset vender ID, a setting switching instruction is displayed in step ST10 for switching the class to the predetermined one. If a vender specific class is set, a setting confirmation instruction is displayed in step ST13 for switching the class to the predetermined one.
