<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst which is a novel one using EU-1 zeolite as a base and is more active than a known zeolite catalyst of conventional technology and is selective about the generation of xylene and improves the yield of a desired product constituted of the xylene as well as the conversion rate of a feed material to be isomerized. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst includes at least one kind of modified EU-1 zeolite containing silicon atoms and aluminum atoms, at least one kind of matrix, and at least one kind of metal of the group 8 of an element periodic table. The modified zeolite is the catalyst which has many 6-coordinate aluminum atoms that exceed the 20 wt.% of the total number of the aluminum atoms existing in the modified EU-1 zeolite. The catalyst is used in the isomerization method of an aromatic feed material containing at least one kind of a compound containing 8 carbon atoms per one molecule. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
