PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium by which display is made possible even in higher coloring density as compared with a conventional technique for performing display by depositing metal ions in an electrolytic solution. SOLUTION: The display medium includes a first substrate 100 having a transparent electrode 310 provided on one surface thereof and having light transmissible properties, a member 400 disposed on the surface of the transparent electrode 310 and having a plurality of through holes 410 each penetrating from the surface side of the transparent electrode 310 and having a ratio of the length of thereof to the maximum hole diameter of 2 or more, a second substrate disposed so as to be opposed to the side of the surface on which the transparent electrode 310 of the first substrate 100 is formed, an electrolytic solution 500 disposed so as to fill a gap between the first substrate 100 and the second substrate and containing metal ions and a counter electrode disposed in a position insulated from the transparent electrode 310 and coming in contact with the electrolytic solution 500.
