The fusing member (110) has an outer contact surface (112) of a fluorothermoplastic resin The apparatus includes a tooling member (210) positionable adjacent to the outer contact surface (112) of the fusing member (110) forming a pressure nip between the outer contact surface (112) of the fusing member (110) and the tooling member (210). A heat source (117, 230) is provided for transferring heat to both the fusing (110) and tooling member (210), wherein the surface of the fuser member (110) is engagable with the tooling member (210) to rotate at a speed of at least 1 rpm at a pressure of at least 5 psi and at a temperature of at least 10 -C below the thermoplastic melting temperature of the outer contact surface (112).</p>
