<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording medium which excels in recording profile and lightfastness in information recording by short wavelength laser beam irradiation. <P>SOLUTION: The optical information recording medium comprises a recording layer containing azo metal complex coloring matter represented by general formula (A) on the surface of the substrate on which the pre-groove of 50-500 nm track pitches are applied. A in general formula (A) expresses an anion nature part represented by (L<SP>2-</SP>)<SB>2</SB>(M), wherein L<SP>2-</SP>expresses a bivalent azo dye anion and M expresses a metal ion or metal oxide ion.
