PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry battery capable of restraining depolarization. SOLUTION: The alkaline dry battery includes a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 3, a separator 4, and alkaline electrolyte solution. The separator 4 is arranged between the positive electrode 2 and negative electrode 3, and the positive electrode 2, the negative electrode 3, and the separator 4 are impregnated with the alkaline electrolyte. A depolarizer, which is an organic compound having a function for depolarizing both the positive electrode 2 and negative electrode 3 or its alkaline metal salt, is added to at least the alkaline electrolyte.
