PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform quick discrimination of a blank disk using a TDMA access indicator in a blue ray disk, for example. SOLUTION: The total three clusters of a DMA0 access indicator (indicates whether finalizing is already finished or not), a TDMA2 access indicator (indicates whether write-in is already finished or not in TDMA1), and a TDMA1 access indicator (indicates whether write-in is already finished or not in TDMA1) are used as an access indicator area in order from the head cluster in TDMA0, in a read-in area. Temporary management information are added successively on and after the fourth cluster. When all access indicators are not yet recorded, the case is either of that the newest management information exists in TDMA0, or that it is a blank disk. Not only access indicator but the head four clusters are read out and existence of write-in of the management information write-in area also is discriminated so that operation can be performed with only once-read-out until discrimination of blank disk.
