PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic paper display which is lighter, more compact, and can realize a high light reflectance and clearer multi-color and multi-gradation by forming a colored particle layer with metal nano-particles, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The electronic paper display comprises: a gray scale representation part for representing gray scale every unit part partitioned by reflection and transmission; upper and lower electrodes for applying a voltage to the gray scale representation part; and a large number of colored particles for representing coloring on the upper part of the upper electrode, wherein the upper electrode is made of a transparent conductive substance, the external incident light is reflected by colored particles on the upper part of the upper electrode and, thereby, the color of the electronic paper display is materialized. According to the electronic paper display, the colored particle layer for representing multicolor with the metal nano-particles is formed, the electronic paper display which is lighter in weight and compacter can be manufactured, and the high light reflectance and clearer multi-color and multi-gradation can be embodied.
