PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective technique to enhance effects of reducing reaction force which is input during hammer work in a striking tool. SOLUTION: This striking tool is provided with a helical compression spring 171 for positioning a tool body with respect to a workpiece by abutting on hammer operating members 119, 145 when they are pressed against the workpiece and are moved rearwardly before hammer work and for absorbing reaction force caused by bounce from the workpiece and applied to the hammer operating members 119, 145 during hammer work by the hammer operating members 119, 145 with respect to the workpiece in the positioning state. The helical compression spring 171 is a compression spring applying energizing force to long axial directions of the hammer operating members 119, 145. An end part in the energizing force application direction of the helical compression spring 171 is engaged with a cylinder 141, and this engagement prevents the cylinder 141 from coming off from a tool body part 103.
