In a haymaking machine, comprising at least one tine-carrier 9 which is driven by the power take-off of a tractor about a substantially vertical axis, the axis of rotation of the tine-carrier is adjustable about an axis extending parallel to the direction of travel. The machine described comprises three units, each including a tine-carrier 9 mounted in a channel-shaped main frame member, the central member 4 being articulated to the outer members 5 about longitudinal pivots which are co-axial with idler sprockets 24 transmitting the chain drives 10, 11 from the central unit to the outer ones. The gear-casing 19 carrying the vertical rotor-shaft projects upwardly through a slot 20 in the frame-member 4, 5, and can be tilted laterally about the axis of the input and output shafts 8, 12 by a strap 21 adjustably clampable at 22, 23. The centre unit is mounted on tractor hitch-links 1, 2 and the outer units can be swung about their pivots (Fig. 2, not shown) for transport. In Figs. 3 and 4, a hay-rake with curved tines 26 extends behind all three units and is formed itself in three parts hinged co-axially with the units of the main machine, the hay-rake being coupled to the lifting linkage by links 31, 32 which ensure that the tines 26 are tilted back (dotted position, Fig. 3) when the main frame is lifted. The gearing permits the rotors to rotate in unison or oppositely. For side delivery they rotate together and co-operate with swath-boards 29, 30. Fixed tines 25 (Fig. 1) may be mounted between the carriers for hay-tedding; they are removable for side-delivery. |
