<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for easily and effectively reducing nitrogen emission from a supercharged diesel engine. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the device to be connected to the diesel engine 1. The diesel engine includes a diesel engine air supply device 2 for supplying intake air from environment to the engine, and a diesel engine cooling circuit 5. The air supply device 2 has at least one flow path installation 3, a compressor 4, and a heat exchanger 12 for the intake air. At least one heat exchanger is connected to the cooling circuit 5. The heat exchanger 6 connected to the cooling circuit 5 for recovering exhaust heat from the diesel engine is constructed to evaporate water with heat received from the cooling circuit 5.
