PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an amide compound represented by formula (3), having excellent controlling effect on harmful arthropod. SOLUTION: The method for producing the amide compound represented by the formula (3) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each a (halogen atom-substituted) 1-6C alkyl or the like; and R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>and R<SP>7</SP>are each a halogen atom or the like] comprises conducting a reaction between an aniline compound represented by formula (1) and an aldehyde compound represented by formula (2) in the presence of a quinone compound in a solvent.
