PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold preset setting patterns prepared previously in a table and to change a setting according to a selected setting pattern in a gas meter capable of selectively setting many functions. SOLUTION: A plurality of setting patterns for setting the function of the gas meter are previously stored as a pattern table in the gas meter. The pattern table can be appropriately displayed on the display screen of a setting device or a display 13 of the gas meter. When pattern number of the target setting pattern is selected from the displayed pattern table, a microcomputer automatically sets the setting values of each function according to the selected setting pattern. Here only by selecting pattern number of the setting pattern, setting to the gas meter can be performed totally so that setting operation by a gas supplier or the like can be surely and easily executed without mistakes.
