PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exercise assisting apparatus capable of roughly adjusting the bending angle of the knee with the physique of a user as a guide and then finely adjusting it corresponding to an individual difference. SOLUTION: The exercise assisting apparatus has a seat part where a user M puts a hip part on and a foot stand for putting on the sole, and urges the muscle contraction of leg parts by swinging the seat part. An elevating and lowering mechanism part 60 adjusts the position of the seat part. A display operation unit 32 includes a physique specifying part 81 wherein the body height of the user is classified into plural, and a moving direction instruction part 2 composed of a push button for instructing the moving direction of the elevating and lowering mechanism part 60. The elevating and lowering mechanism part 60 is controlled by an elevating and lowering control part 80, and it is provided with a position adjusting part 86 for reading the position of the elevating and lowering mechanism part 60 corresponding to the physique selected in the physique specifying part 81 from a data storage part 85 and roughly adjusting the position of the elevating and lowering mechanism part 60 and a position correcting part 87 for finely adjusting the position of the elevating and lowering mechanism part 60 during the pushing operation of the moving direction instruction part 82.
