<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which is capable of saving energy by heating only the image region of each sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a fixing member with which the sheet 14 is brought into press-contact on the outer circumferential surface thereof; an induction coil which is along the fixing member; a high-frequency power source section which allows the heat generating layer of the fixing member to generate heat by supplying an AC current to the induction coil; and a magnetic flux adjustment section 32 which restricts the heat generation of the designated region of the fixing member in the width direction of the sheet 14. Image regions D1, D2 and D6 occupied by an image to be fixed in the width direction of the sheet 14 are detected and control for designating a region to be restricted in the heat generation with respect to the magnetic flux adjustment section 32, so that only the regions X1, X2 and X6 corresponding to the image regions D1, D2 and D6 of the fixing member in the width direction of the sheet substantially generate the heat, in each sheet 14, according to the results of the detection is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
