PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus allowing the same users to surely communicate with each other all the time while enabling a user who communicates in voice or the like via the Internet, to maintain anonymity of a different user for each communication session. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method including the steps of: maintaining a compilation of entries, each entry comprising a prescribed permanent identifier and a present Internet protocol address of a user connected to the Internet; and, in response to selection of one of the entries on the compilation by a requesting user, providing the Internet protocol address corresponding to the selected entry to the requesting user.
