PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle capable of preventing hot water from scattering, reducing the time to the completion of spouting of hot water even if a hot water pump is turned off for short time during the hot-water spouting operation, and predicting the change of the quantity of hot water to be spouted. SOLUTION: The electric kettle includes a container 2 to store liquid; a heat source 3 to heat the liquid; the hot water pump 8 to spout the liquid to the outside of the container; a hot-water switch 5 to drive/operate the hot-water pump 8 to gradually increase the quantity of hot-water to be spouted per unit time; a control means 12 for controlling the hot-water spouting operation so that the spouting is restarted on the way of the spouting operation when the hot-water switch is turned on again in a prescribed period of time after the hot-water switch is turned off during the hot-water spouting operation; and an announcing means 13 for announcing the gradual change of the quantity of hot water to be spouted. With this structure, the quantity of hot water to be spouted per unit time is gradually increased, so that scattering of hot water at the start of spouting can be prevented. The time to the completion of spouting can be reduced by restarting the spouting on the way of the spouting operation even if the hot-water pump is turned off for short time, and the change of the quantity of hot water to be spouted can be predicted by the announcement of the gradual change of the quantity of hot water to be spouted.
