The first valve passes compressed working medium from the compressor to a first/second heat exchanger in cooling system/heat pump mode. The second valve feeds gaseous working medium to the compressor from the second or a third heat exchanger in cooling system or heat pump mode. The system has a first switch element as an outlet switching valve (4) connected directly to a compressor (2) outlet and a second as an inlet switching valve (19) directly connected to the compressor inlet. The first valve passes the compressed working medium from the compressor to a first (6) or second (14) heat exchanger in cooling system or heat pump modes. The second valve feeds gaseous working medium to the compressor from the second or a third heat exchanger (23) in cooling system or heat pump modes.
