<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract wide range of illumination components by suppressing processing amount, and to achieve dynamic range compression by maintaining contrast. <P>SOLUTION: A brightness conversion part 20 calculates the brightness of each pixel, and a low resolution luminance image generation part 30 divides an image based on an input image signal into a plurality of regions, and calculates mean brightness for every region based on the brightness calculated by the brightness conversion part 20. Then, a high resolution bright image generation part 40 calculates brightness by weighting mean brightness calculated for every region with a distance to the central part of the region for every pixel configuring an image based on the input image signal, and a correction gain lookup table part 50 determines a correction gain based on this brightness, and a correction part 60 corrects the input image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
