<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a color filter forming substrate by which the color filter forming substrate having a black matrix or a columnar spacer formed by laminating color layers for forming pixels of each color layer of red, green and blue is controlled to have a prescribed thickness and the color filter forming substrate having the black matrix formed by laminating the color layers for forming pixels of each color layer of red, green and blue ahd controlled to have the prescribed thicness. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of forming the color filter forming substrate having the black matrix, the black matrix is formed by laminating three color layers of R (red), G (green) and B (blue) in the formation of the pixels of each color layer of R (red), G (green) and B (blue) by a photolitho process using photosensitive color materials.
