<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of securing a long service life of a light source and reducing the running costs. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of lasers are subjected to light emission/light extinction, to cool the lasers heated during the light emission; and as a result the destruction of structure is suppressed to secure long service life for the lasers.
