PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diboron trioxide-supporting activated carbon which is for producing boron trichloride, useful for producing high-purity boron trichloride by a simple and easy way, and characterized by substantially containing no metabolic acid; and its production method. SOLUTION: The diboron trioxide-supporting activated carbon for producing boron trichloride is characterized by substantially containing no metabolic acid. The method for producing the diboron trioxide-supporting activated carbon substantially containing no metabolic acid and used for producing boron trichloride is characterized by that an activated carbon impregnated with boric acid is filled into a dehydration apparatus and by that, while the lower part temperature is kept at 550-800°C by heating, an inactive gas is caused to flow from the lower part and is extracted from the upper part together with steam.
