<p>The present invention is directed to compositions and methods useful in the treatment of sarcomas, such as chondrosarcomas, that are typically resistant to conventional treatment modalities, such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Various aspects of the invention involve increasing the sensitivity of a sarcoma to chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy by exposing it to a transformed stem cell, such as a mesenchymal stem cell, that expresses RNAi molecules specific for one or more anti-apoptotic genes and/or multi-drug resistance genes, and optionally expresses a connexin protein that facilitates transfer of the RNAi molecules to sarcomal cells.</p> |
