<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a non-invasive system for evaluation of tissue characteristics including intracranial pressure which the system may be frequently usable when necessary without requiring participation of a patient. <P>SOLUTION: The invention provides a system including an ultrasound transducing source and an ultrasound detector. The ultrasound transducing source and the ultrasound detector are operably connected to a power source which is operably connected to a function generator which is operably connected to a controller which has a function to control detectable tissue displacement in the brain tissue at a central nerve target tissue location or a plurality of ultrasound pulses non-invasively applying acoustic radiation power sufficient for inducing detectable tissue vibration, a function to control acquisition of acoustic data from the tissue location related to the tissue displacement or the tissue vibration after inducing the tissue displacement or the tissue vibration, and a function to calculate the intracranial pressure in the brain tissue based on the tissue displacement or the tissue vibration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
