<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of preventing trouble from being erroneously determined without causing such a problem that a vehicle control message required for controlling a vehicle cannot be transmitted. <P>SOLUTION: This communication system comprises a plurality of control means 1-5 for controlling on-vehicle devices, two communication lines CANH, CANL connected, at both ends, to each other through terminating resistances, and connection lines CH, CL for connecting the control means 1-5 to two communication lines CANH, CANL. The control means 1-5 apply predetermined signal voltages to two communication lines CANH, CNL, and performs the communication of the vehicle control message by a differential voltage between two communication lines CANH, CANL, and one control means 1 of the control means 1-5 transmits a trouble confirmation message.
