PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism and a method for adjusting the position of a spindle motor, wherein cost reduction is attained by simplifying the adjustment mechanism and stable adjustment is made possible. SOLUTION: The mechanism for adjusting the position of the spindle motor is constructed in such a manner that a plurality of oval screw insertion holes 3b are formed on the motor mounting place of a traverse chassis 3 corresponding to a plurality of female screws 1b, male screws 6 are inserted through the screw insertion holes 3b into the female screw holes 1b to temporarily fix the motor, first and second notched parts 7 and 8 are respectively formed in the outer peripheral part of the bottom plate of the motor and the motor mounting place of the traverse chassis 3 by notching them in the short diameter direction of the screw insertion holes 3b, and the first notched part 7 and an opening 8a for exposing both sides thereof are formed in the manner of being linked with the second notched part 8. The plate-like projection piece 9a of the tip of adjusting fixtures is fitted with play to both of the first and second notched parts 7 and 8. By rotating the adjusting fixtures, the motor is moved in the long diameter directions of the screw insertion holes 3b to be adjusted for its position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
