PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for controlling the slackening and elongation of a belt caused by the movement of a belt conveyor. SOLUTION: For a head pulley 45 moved to a desired position, a movement position set value is inputted and stored in a storage part 53. A rotating speed calculating means calculates the rotating speed of a motor driven winch drum 81 from the movement position set value stored in the storage part 53 and circumference data for the motor driven winch drum 81. Then, a winch unit 80 moves a rotating shaft 45b along rail members 41a, 41b with the wire rope 83 according to the rotating speed. By the movement, a carrying belt 18 bridged between the head pulley 45 and a tale pulley 17 is slackened or elongated and the carrying belt 18 is stored or discharged in or from a carrying belt storage mechanism 90.
