PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and easily attach/detach a fabric to/from an embroidery frame. SOLUTION: The embroidery frame device 5 for a sewing machine includes an outer frame 51 formed in such a frame shape that both ends 51a and 51b face each other, and an inner frame 52 formed in such a frame shape as can be fitted to the inside of the outer frame. The embroidery frame device holds an article to be sewn between the inner frame and the outer frame with the article to be sewn stretched over the inner frame. The embroidery frame device 5 also has a control member 53 which can control an end of the outer frame movably between a position to hold the article to be sewn with the inner frame and a position to release the held state, and an interval adjusting member 54 to adjust the interval between both ends of the outer frame while the article to be sewn is held between the outer frame and the inner frame by the operation of the control member.
