<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an item retrieval method for improving retrieval performance such as retrieval time and operability by displaying music in the same way as a display means having many rows for displaying a music name even when a display means has a small number of rows for displaying the music name. <P>SOLUTION: The initial three characters of three music name are displayed in rows other than the row for displaying a current music name. Consequently, in a three-row display mode, six music names adjacent to the current music name can be confirmed so that it is possible to display seven music names including the current music name.
