PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide two or more kinds of video and sound signal input and output with a small number of terminals by using highly versatile input/output terminals. SOLUTION: In an RCA pin plug, a contact used conventionally as ground (GND) is divided into two or more in the inserting/removing direction of a plug and a jack, at least one of the divided contacts is allocated to the ground (GND) contact, and the other contacts are allocated to desired video or sound signal contacts. Also, inside a video or sound input/output device, a short circuit detection means 7-4 for detecting the mutual short circuit of the divided contacts with each other, a signal determination means 7-6 for determining the contents of signal processing from the detected results, and a signal switching means 7-5 for switching a signal processing method and a signal route by the determined results are provided.
