PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent upward-sloping progressive unstable characteristics without dropping maximum efficiency of an axial flow turbomachine. SOLUTION: The axial flow turbomachine 1 is provided with a driven and rotated impeller 4 and a casing 3 forming a circular section channel. A plurality of protrusions 11 are arranged keeping intervals on an inner circumference of the casing. The protrusion extends over a gap 7 between the inner circumference surface of the casing and moving blade tip parts 9b, 9c of the impeller, and an inflow side zone 20 of the impeller. A plurality of channel flow paths 12 establishing communication between the gap and the flow in side zone are formed by the protrusion. A leading edge tip part 9a of the moving blade of the impeller is cut out or deformed in a complementary form with the protrusion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
