A portable reception device that is portably designed, and that receives television broadcast and feeds the received video information to a monitor so that video is viewed from outside, the portable reception device includes: a reception section receiving television broadcast; a video display section feeding the video information received through the reception section to the monitor; a video storage section storing the video information received through the reception section; a reception check section checking whether or not television broadcast can be received through the reception section; a reception process check section checking whether or not television broadcast is being received through the reception section; and a video recording section receiving television broadcast on a channel preset through the reception section and writing the received video information in the video storage section if television broadcast is found to be receivable by the reception check section and television broadcast is found not to be being received by the reception process check section.
