HYDRATED SILICATE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME AND PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydrated silicate having a proper average particle diameter, high bulking effect when added into paper and improved internal bonding strength, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.

SOLUTION: The hydrated silicate has 10-40 μm average particle diameter, 15-160 m2/g specific surface area, <4 cc/g accumulated volume of fine pores having ≤105Å fine pore diameter, and 0.10-0.80 μm fine pore diameter and is manufactured by adding a mineral acid solution and/or a metal salt solution of a mineral acid into an alkali silicate aqueous solution to neutralize the resultant solution to deposit silicon oxide compound and adjusting the concentration of an electrolyte in slurry to 35-80 g/L.
